Common Questions and Answers

Getting Started

Do I need to buy Easy VMail first?

No, you can download Easy VMail and try it out before buying. Before you purchase, Easy VMail will be fully functional, but a text message watermark will appear on the image, and the program will prompt you to register. After you purchase, this text message will not appear.

Will purchasing Easy VMail make it work better?

Purchasing Easy VMail will only remove the text that is written over the image. It will not fix any problems. If you have any problems with Easy VMail, you should try to resolve them before purchasing.

How long can I make the videos?

We do not limit the length of the videos, but videos longer than 10 to 15 seconds could take a long time to send through the internet. For example, a 15 second video could take two minutes or more to send or receive over a 56k modem connection.

I have high-speed internet (broadband). Can I make longer videos?

You can, if the person to whom you send your video also has high-speed internet. But if they have a slower dial-up modem, you may want to consider how long it will take them to receive your e-mail. Use the Compression Information at the bottom of the Preview Compressed Video panel to estimate the time it will take to receive your video. The "high-speed" internet setting is based on speed of 1 megabit per second.

Cameras

What cameras can I use?

Apple's iSight, Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000, Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks or most FireWire webcams should work. Also, IOXperts supports many FireWire and USB webcams with their driver. And OS X allows many camcorders to act as a webcam.

What is a driver? Why do I need it?

A driver allows your camera to talk to Easy VMail. Without a driver, Easy VMail will not know your camera is connected. In OS X versions 10.2 and 10.3, Apple provides a driver for FireWire cameras like their iSight camera. Also, IOXperts supports many FireWire and USB cameras with their driver.

It just says "Looking for webcam...", and I cannot click the Continue button.

This means that Easy VMail cannot find your webcam. Make sure that it works with other webcam software such as iChat AV. Note that iPhoto is not a webcam application, and most cameras that work with iPhoto cannot be used as webcams.

My camera works with iPhoto. Why doesn't it work with Easy VMail?

iPhoto is not a webcam application. iChat AV and QuickTime Broadcaster are webcam applications, and there are many others available. If your camera works with other webcam applications, it should work with Easy VMail.

E-mail

Do I have to use Apple's Mail application? Can I use other e-mail applications?

Easy VMail has been tested with the Mail application included in OS X, as well as Microsoft Entourage (part of Office), Eudora, and Barebone's MailSmith. It does not currently work with Mulberry, but Cyrusoft has been contacted about this. If you want to use Easy VMail with an e-mail client we haven't listed, please try it and let us know whether or not it works. On Mac OS X 10.1.5, only Apple's Mail application can be used with Easy VMail. Also, Mail must already be running before clicking the Send It button in Easy VMail.

Purchasing

Where can I purchase Easy VMail?

Easy VMail is not available in any store or mail-order company. Licenses can only be purchased through its integrated purchasing system or our online store. You to try the product and make sure it works for you before you buy it.

I cannot find my serial number.

Our purchasing system uses a company called eSellerate, who can provide you with a copy of your original receipt. Just go to http://store.esellerate.net/support and enter the e-mail you gave when you purchased.

When do I get my CD?

We do not sell Easy VMail on CD. It is only available by downloading from our web site. When you purchase, you will get a serial number that authorizes you to use Easy VMail. We do not send you a CD. Before you purchase, you can evaluate the entire product, to determine if you like it.

Troubleshooting

It does not work reliably, or has problems with the video or sound.

Some problems can occur if you are not using the latest versions of Mac OS X or QuickTime. Please be sure that your version of Mac OS X and QuickTime are up-to-date. See the Software Update panel in System Preferences. Note that QuickTime 6 is required, especially with OS 10.1.
